Bangladeshi dies, 4 injured in BSF shooting

LALMONIRHAT: A Bangladeshi villager was killed and three other sustained injuries in BSF firing at Durgapur border in Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahim, 30, son of Abul Kashem of Chowratari village of Durgapur union.

Durgapur UP chairman Abdus Salek told banglanews that Indian Border Security Force (BSF)-21 battalion patrol team chased villagers while they went to field to bring their cows in the evening.

BSF men crossed the border and took four cows from houses of Chowratari village. When villagers obstructed them to do so, the BSF fired rubber bullets randomly, leaving five people injured.

The injured are Abdur Rahim, 30, Sultan Hossian, 65, Saju Mia, 30, Sumon Mia, 33, and Rabeya Begum, 38.

Later, Abdur Rahim succumbed to his injuries at Rangpur Medical College Hospital around 1:00am, said Abdus Salek Pramanik.
