SIRAJGANJ: A suspected robber was killed in a gunfight between a gang of robber and members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Sadar upazila of the district early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Asadul, 27.

RAB-12 Tangail company commander additional SP Mohiuddin Faruqui confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said acting on tip-off that an armed gang was preparing for robbery, a team of RAB conducted drive in Morh village area around 4:00am.

Sensing presence of law enforcers, robbers opened fire to them. RAB also retaliated with gunshots for self-defense that triggered a gunfight, leaving Asadul injured by bullet, the additional SP added.

Later, he succumbed to his injuries at Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.
