2 killed in Gazipur train accident

GAZIPUR: Two Readymade Garment workers were killed and three others injured as a train hit them in Bhurulia area of Gazipur on Friday.

One of the deceased was identified as M Ramjan Ali, 39, hailed from Khulna.

 All the dead and injured are deaf and workers of Keya Knit Composite factory located in Konabari Jarun area, Joydebpur railway Junction police outpost assistant sub inspector (ASI) Dadon Mia told banglanews.

ASI Dadon Mia said the five workers were heading towards Konabari on foot after joining Tablig Jamaat at Bhurulia Markaz Mosque.

Of them, two fell into the ditch after being hit by a Jamalpur-bound commuter train around 7:30am while they were crossing Bhurulia rail bridge, leaving them dead on the spot, he added.

Quoting the injured, the ASI also said that three others narrowly escaped death as they jumped from bridge to ditch,.

Locals and people of Tablig rescued the injured and sent them to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital.
