COX’S BAZAR: The flag meeting between the Bangladesh delegation comprising of BGB, district administration, police force and Myanmar delegation is underway at Dekibania in Myanmar to bring 103 Bangladeshi trafficking victims back to home.
Earlier, the delegation reached Myanmar through Ghumdhum border in Naikangchhari upazila of Bandarban district around 11:00am Monday where its immigration chief Sen One welcomed them.
BGB-17 battalion acting commanding officer Imran Ullah Sarker confirmed the matter to banglanews.
In sixth phase, 103 more Bangladeshi trafficking victims, who were rescued from Myanmar coast, are set to be brought back home on Monday.
BGB Cox’s Bazar sector commander colonel M Anisur Rahman said on Sunday, “After a flag meeting with Myanmar immigration department at Dekibania opposite to Ghumdhum zero point, 73 people who were identified as Bangladeshis would be brought back”.
International Organization for Migration (IMO) national program officer Asif Munir said the returnees would be kept at Cox’s Bazar cultural center.
However, Myanmar navy rescued so far 727 migrants from their water. In five phases, a total of 626 from the rescued people were handed over to the BGB after identifying them as Bangladeshis.
