SYLHET: A child and women torture case accused, who escaped from jail custody while undergoing treatment at Osmani Medical College Hospital, has been arrested from Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj district early Monday.

Madhabpur Thana sub-inspector (SI) Bimal Chandra arrested the handcuffed accused around 5:30am, after a day of his escape.

Earlier, Samad Rabbani, 26, fled the hospital by breaking ventilator of the bathroom around 2:00pm Sunday.

Sylhet central jail’s superintendent Sagir Mia told banglanews that the accused has been kept at Madhabpur thana custody after arrest.

Process is underway to bring him in Sylhet on Monday, he added.

Following the incident, three prison guards have been suspended for negligence of their duty.
