DHAKA: The government has issued gazette notification recognizing 41 biranganas, women violated during 1971, as freedom fighters.

Liberation war affairs ministry on Monday issued the notification in this regard.

According to the gazette, they will get government facilities, given to freedom fighters from July this year.

All biranganas will get status of freedom fighters in phases, said sources of the ministry.

Ministry’s public relations officer Sufi Abdullahil Maruf confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier, the High Court on January 27 in 2014 issued a rule seeking an answer from the government as to why biranganas would not get facilities similar to freedom fighters.
