10 held for illegal border crossing in Benapole

BENAPOLE (JESSORE): Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel held 10 Bangladeshi nationals including men and women in Benapole as they were coming from India illegally.

BGB detained them early Thursday in a drive conducted in Putkhali Char area on the border between Bangladesh and India.

BGB sources said that the detainees entered Bangladesh from India illegally. Later, they were handed over to Benapole Port Thana police.

But the traffickers managed to flee the scene, the sources added.

Benapole Port Thana police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Matiar Rahman told banglanews that a case on illegal border crossing has been filed against the detainees.
