FROM THE BANK OF PADMA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the construction work of main structure of multipurpose Padma Bridge on December 12.

Road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader informed the media after a preparatory meeting ahead of the inauguration of the construction work of main bridge.

The meeting was held at Padma Bridge project area Jajira upazila in Shariatpur on Sunday.

Obaidul Qauder said, ‘Many expressed their dissatisfaction as they did not witness the works of main construction of the bridge. For them, that auspicious day is coming soon’.

‘Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the bridge on December 12, in the month of nation’s victory in the war of independence,’ the minister said.

He also thanked locals who had left their homesteads for the sake of Padma Bridge keeping their confidence on the Prime Minister.

‘We have to face many obstacles regarding the construction of the bridge. Now we are heading toward final result after overcoming all conspiracies,’ he added.

However, the preparatory meeting started at 9:45am with participation of former deputy speaker Colonel (retd) Shawkat Ali, Members of Parliament Nahim Razzak, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, BM Mozammel Haque and Shagufta Yeasmin Emily and senior officers from administration and the project.
