DHAKA: Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal (BBIN) Motor Rally is now in Dhaka. Fourteen members of four countries have crossed more than 3,000 kilometers and now set to leave the capital of Bangladesh for Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal in India.

Banglanews met Praveen Chandra Bhanj Deo, the oldest member of the team who is an MLA of Orissa, the Indian state and also the owner of Kalinga Motors, a motoring club in India.

The rally began from Orissa on the second week of November and then traveled through over a dozen cities and towns of India, Bhutan and Bangladesh.

How was the rally? Banglanews asked and found an overwhelmed Praveen Chandra explaining the rally as an exciting one. The most important area that needs to be explored is to take the initiative of introducing BBIN Visa, he opined.

The experience we gathered from the rally regarding border pass is really important. We believe the system should be easier, and a BBIN visa can be the most effective solution, he added.

As his logic, Praveen Chandra emphasized on the existing cultural similarities and geographic links among the countries. The more people-to-people communication will be there, the more economic development will be visible, he underscored.

Monday was the 18th day of the rally. We are closer, more together now, said Praveen Chandra.

This is the beginning, and to explore new potentialities, BBIN will continuously be contributing, he said.

Remembering the 15th of June 2015 he recalled, ‘that day the communication ministers of four neighboring countries signed the road transport deal, and I believe that was a milestone. Now we are going to draw the finishing line of BBIN Motor Rally after traveling some 4500 kilometers is also a milestone’.

Praveen Chandra, who already has got his name ‘Father of the Rally’ is highly caring and keep all the members be happy all the time through his fatherly hands of cooperation, said Mazadul Noyon, Senior Correspondent of Banglanews24.com and also a member of the BBIN Motor Rally-2015.

Such a program bring the members closer and when you travel a long route together, a small help will satisfy you more, said a humble Praveen Chandra.

The most important side of this rally is to bring the economic potentials in the discussion. And we saw a lot of scopes, he said. Everywhere we found the scopes to progress and if ensured all four connected countries will be benefited, he said.

Immediately after the rally, we will submit our report to the government of India highlighting all these, and we believe the government of India will share that with other four countries to work-out the steps to be taken, added Praveen Chandra.

Among the countries both Bangladesh and India is on the stronger economy and they need to take a stand with firmness. Bigger roles from the countries in this connection are highly expected, he said.

Few areas of the route are still too rough to travel, that need to be fixed, security is also a big issue that needs to be brought under control and resolving all these the BBIN travel route will be an attractive one, said Praveen.

Mentioning the hands of cooperation from the Asian Development Bank, he said, we should take help from donor agencies and none of the countries is with that strength to run such development project at its own cost.

Such rallies will be organized in future more and more, Praveen hoped.

We are all together like a family and this togetherness is vital for development, he reaffirmed.
