DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted bail to cricketer Shahadat Hossain Rajib’s wife Jesmin Jahan Nitya in the case ‘for torturing domestic help’.

Judge Qamrul Hossain Molla of metropolitan session judge court granted the bail after holding a hearing in the morning.

Nitya’s lawyer Advocate Kazi Nazibullah Hiru pleaded for her bail on November 19.

On October 4, Mirpur Model Thana police detained Jesmin Jahan Nitya in the case filed on allegation of torturing a domestic help Mahfuza Akter Happy.

On the day, the court sent Nitya to jail rejecting a five-day remand petition filed by police.

However, it asked police to quiz her at jail gate for three days within five working days.

As per court permission, police quizzed her at jail gate for three days.

In primary interrogation, Nitya confessed to torturing the 11-year-old domestic help.
