DHAKA: A court in Dhaka placed six members of a newly formed extremist outfit, Al-Mujahid of Bangladesh, on six-day remand for each to grill them in a case filed under anti-terrorism act.
Magistrate of chief metropolitan magistrate (CMM) court Rashed Talukder passed the order after hearing 10-day remand petition of police for each arrestee.
Matijheel Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman produced them before the court after showing arrest in the case filed under anti-terrorism act.
Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) of police detained the six members of Al-Mujahid of Bangladesh, from Shapla Chattar in Motijheel area in city Thursday dawn.
The detainees were identified as Zahirul Islam, Khandaker Rajes Sobhan, Abubakar Siddique, Abraham Ahmed, Morshedul Islam and Kazi Bappi.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) deputy commissioner (media) Muntasirul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
