DHAKA: As 40,000 delegates and 150-plus world leaders gather to start mega negotiations billed as the most important climate change talks in history, Paris, the capital of France, is buzzing with excitement.
Hopes emanate out of this year’s Paris Climate Talk, COP21 event. In world climate conference, United Nations (UN) aspires that there are positive news for the countries that are badly affected by climate change. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed that the countries should not only be limited to their pledges and negotiations, but also there is a need for responsible action to fulfill the commitments.
The UN Secretary-General met the countries who are mainly responsible for carbon emanation. The objective of the meeting was to decrease carbon emanation into zero and to tackle climate change crisis.
On Friday (4th December) in Paris, Ban Ki-moon attended in a meeting where the representatives of the countries who produce high amount of carbon, city mayor, UN-affiliated organizations’ officers were present.
At the meeting, he urged everyone to invent new technology to tackle climate change, to invest in climate-friendly projects and to build infrastructures.
Secretary-General also added that there is a dire need to invest in countries who are on the high risk of climate change. He went on to say, from today’s report we got to know where we need what measures to take to tackle natural disaster, we need to build our governments and organizations more strong.
Apart from Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General’s climate related assistant, World Bank’s president, executive director of Partnership and Stretagy Group and others were present.
In the conference, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil, Per, Russia, America, Canada, China, India and altogether 45 countries promised to tackle climate change by preserving the forestlands.
Other than this, there was announcemnt on reducing carbon emination into zero by 2060, besides, reduction of green house gas was expected to come down by 87% to 90%.
The COP21 conference in Paris is moving towards an agreeable framework negotiation among the countries. In coming days, these preliminary negotiations will be passed in different countries’ ministerial meetings.
UN considers that countries like Bangladesh’s interests depend on these negotiations. On 11 December, the conference is going to be ended through the final negotiations among the countries.
