DHAKA: The Junior School Certificate (JSC) and equivalent examinations under all the education boards will begin on November 4.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at a press conference Monday apprised reporters of the schedule for the Junior School Certificate (JSC) Examination under the general education boards and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) Examination under Madrassa Education Board.

The exam, first of its kind, will be held like the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam instead of class-eight final and scholarship exams.

“A total of 15,20,731 students, 12,48,078 from schools and 2,76,653 from madrasas across the country, will sit for the exams under eight general education boards and one madrasa education board,” the minister said.

Nahid said the results of JSC and JDC exams will be published by December 31.

The number of the examiners would be increased to make it possible, he added.

In reply to a question, the minister said the government has already finalised the policy on JSC and JDC.

Education Secretary Syed Ataur Rahman and chairmen of different education boards along with the high officials were present at the press meet.
