DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Teachers of all the public universities in the country issued a threat of abstaining from works from January 11 with the view to press home their demand of ongoing movement over salary and status in the recently implemented 8th national pay scale.
Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers’ Association made the warning at a press briefing at Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU) in city Saturday noon.
The federation also announced programs including wearing black badges from January 3, publicize their demands among the students in every class and sit-ins on each university campus on January 7.
The programs will be postponed on January 10 to commemorate the historic home-coming day of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, they added.
Federation president Farid Uddin Ahmed and general secretary Professor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal were, among others, present at the press meet.
