DHAKA: A young man was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with a patrol team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Eastern Housing Society in city’s Rupnagar area early hours of Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Al-Amin Jony,32.

RAB-4 additional superintendent Anumong told banglanews that the patrol team of RAB intercepted Jony in Eastern Housing Society area around 2:30am.

Ignoring the signal, he opened fire targeting to RAB members that forced the lawmen to retaliate with gunshot. During the gunfight, Jony sustained injuries by bullet.

The injured was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead around 4:15am.
