BSF returns 29 Bangladeshi trafficking victims

BENAPOLE: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed over 29 Bangladesh men, women and children who were detained in Bangaon border on allegation of intruding into India.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member of Benapole check post received them from BSF members of Petrapole camp on Saturday night.

Of the detainee, eight are women, 17 men and four children. All of them hailed from Narail, Gopalganj and Jessore districts.

Human traffickers brought them to India with the allure of higher wages and better jobs.

BGB-26 battalion Benapole BGB camp Subedar Abdul Hamid said the Bangladeshis have been handed over to Benapole Port Thana after filing a case under section-11 (c) on allegation of intrusion.

Benapole Port Thana assistant sub inspector (ASI) Ashraf Hossain said the detainees will be produced before Jessore court on Sunday noon.
