3 children burnt dead over family dispute

JHENAIDAH: Three children were burnt to death and one sustained severe injuries as a man set fire to his brother’s house at Kabirpur in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah district.

The incident took place Sunday evening (January 3).

Police said that Iqbal Hossain locked his brother Delwar Hossain’s house from outside and set it on fire over family dispute.

The incident left Delwar’s two sons Amin Hossain (6) and Safin Hossain (10) burnt to death and his sister Jasmine Khatun (40) and her son Mahin severely injured.

On information, a Fire Service unit rushed to the spot and rescued the victims with the assistance of local people and then sent them to Shailkupa Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty doctor declared Amin and Shafin dead.

Later, Jasmine Khatun and her son Mahin were rushed to Kushtia Sadar Hospital, where Mahid succumbed to his injuries.

Confirming the matter to banglanews Shailkupa Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Tozammel Haque said police have detained Iqbal Hossain.
