Draft of jute law gets cabinet nod

DHAKA: The government has given its final nod to the draft of Jute Law-2016 with a provision of maximum Tk one lakh as fine for violating the law.

The approval came from a regular cabinet meeting held at secretariat in city on Monday (January 4), with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

After the meeting, cabinet secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam informed the matter to banglanews.

Cabinet secretary said the ordinance of 1962 has been converted to the law with inclusion of Tk 1-lakh as fine, three years jail or both punishments.
