DHAKA: A nine-storey building in city’s Shanirakhkra area has been tilted in the 6.7 earthquake that jolted Bangladesh early Monday (January 4).
On information, fire service officials rushed to the spot and evacuated the residents of the building.
Fire Service and Civil Defense control room duty officer Ataur Rahman informed the matters to banglanews this noon.
Another six-storey building in older part of Dhaka has reportedly tilted due to earthquake.
When asked about it, Ataur Rahman said after being informed, fire fighters rushed in, but they did not find such building in that area.
But, cracks were developed at the office building of Jagannath University (JnU).
However, at least four persons died of heart attack in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Lalmonirhat and Sirajganj when the 6.7 magnitude earthquake jolted the country, forcing people to rush out of their homes in panic around 5:05am Monday.
The magnitude of the quake was 6.7 in Richter scale and the epicenter was 60 kilometers below the surface in Monipur province of India.
