DHAKA: Expressing satisfaction over the Supreme Court verdict in war crimes case against Jamaat-e-Islami leader Matiur Rahman Nizami, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam Wednesday said the judgment has fulfilled expectation of nation and justice-seekers.

"The nation and justice-seekers get expected judgment, I feel happy," he added.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the death sentence of war criminal Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami on charge of killing intellectuals, mass killing and rape during the country’s war of independence.

Regarding the process of execution of the death penalty verdict, the attorney general said that many legal procedures are yet to done.

The verdict will be executed after disposal of review petition if the defense filed, he added.
