DHAKA: Egyptian Ambassador in Dhaka Mahmoud Ezzat and also the dean of the Diplomatic Corps said that Pakistan cannot interfere in Bangladesh’s internal issues.
He came up with the remark while talking to the media about the trial of Bangladesh war criminals.
‘If Pakistan interferes in Bangladesh’s internal issues then Egypt will be the first country to protest it.’
According to him, Egypt has been supporting to Bangladesh over the trial of war criminals since its inception.
‘I cannot comment on a country’s internal affairs. Bangladesh has the right to take decision independently about its internal matter.’
However, Egypt established diplomatic ties with Bangladesh in 1972 just the following year of Bangladesh independence.
Regarding the newly formed Saudi Arabia-led coalition against Islamic State (IS) militants, the ambassador welcomed the Bangladesh decision in joining the alliance.
He ruled out the existence of IS in Bangladesh saying, “I do not believe that the international militant outfit is active in the country”.
