‘Bangladesh awaits with warmth to receive new Indian envoy’

DHAKA: Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand Saida Muna Tasneem reaffirmed the goodwill and friendship that awaits the incoming Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh and wished him a successful tenure in Dhaka.

She came up with the wishes during a farewell call at the Bangladesh embassy in Thailand by ambassador of India to Thailand and Indian High commissioner-designate to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla.

The two envoys having served together in Bangkok for more than a year recalled with satisfaction the excellent cooperation they enjoyed in Bangkok bilaterally, and as members of the UNESCAP.

Bangladesh ambassador thanked the Indian envoy especially for India’s sustained support on the issue of ‘Blue Economy and Regional Cooperation’, being pursued by Bangladesh at the UNESCAP.

The Indian diplomat recalled with satisfaction his active participation in Bangladesh embassy’s Victory Day and other cultural celebrations over the past years as an attestation of friendship and historical ties between the two nations.

Ambassador Shringla also expressed his firm resolve to take India’s multifaceted bilateral relations with close neighbor Bangladesh to new depths and heights with a special focus on implementation of key agreements and decisions adopted in the “Nutun Projonmo-Naya Disha” joint statement signed between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He expressed his deep appreciation to ambassador Tasneem for her continued engagement and cooperation with the Indian embassy in Bangkok and Indian delegation at ESCAP and hoped for the same for his successor.

Both ambassadors also reiterated their shared determination to work bilaterally and regionally to realize their governments’ ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards terrorism, extremism and radicalization.
