DHAKA: Department of Narcotics Control detained a yaba trader named Sanjoy from city’s Motijheel area on Thursday.

Later in the day, as per information given by the detainee during interrogation, one lakh pieces of yaba tablets were seized from Sanjoy’s Mouchak residence in city.

The market price of the seized yaba tablets is about Tk 2.5 crore, said sources concerned.

Assistant director Khurshid Alam of Dhaka division narcotics control department told banglanews that Sanjoy used to bring yaba tablets from Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar district and sale them in Dhaka and neighboring areas.

The department will file case against the detainee, he added.
