Monir made Bangladesh envoy to Ethiopia

DHAKA: The government has decided to appoint Monirul Islam as inaugural ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

He is currently serving as Bangladesh ambassador to Morocco.

According to press release of External Publicity Wing of Bangladesh foreign minister issued on Thursday (January 7), Md Monirul Islam, a career diplomat, belonged to the 10th batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre.

In his distinguished diplomatic career besides being Bangladesh ambassador to Morocco he served as consul general in New York.

He also served in Bangladesh missions in Madrid, Beijing, Singapore and Ottawa in different capacities and also worked as Director General (East Asia & Pacific) in the ministry.

Monirul Islam obtained MSS degree in economics from Dhaka University and also an MA in foreign affairs and trade from Monash University in Australia.
