GAZIPUR: Thousands of Muslims from home and abroad have offered the Juma’h prayer on Bishwa Ijtema ground, on the bank of the Turag River at Tongi upazila in Gazipur.
Hafez Maulana Mohammad Zobayer of Dhaka Kakrail Mosque led the prayer.
The prayer started at 1:40pm on Friday (January 8) with participation of thousands of Muslims from different districts of Bangladesh and all around the world.
Due to the shortage of space, people joined in the prayer standing on the highway and lanes over hogla, mat, gunny bags, newspaper, bed sheets and so on.
After Asar prayer, Maulana Mohammad Zohayer from India and after Maghrib-Moulana Saad from Delhi will deliver the sermons at Bishwa Ijtema today.
The sermons will be converted to Bangla for the convenience of the people. Moreover, the sermons will also be translated to English, Persian and Malayan languages as well.
The first phase of the 51st Biswa Ijtema has started from Friday after Fazr prayer with the presence and participation of scores of devotees from home and all over the world.
Maulana Abdur Rahman from India has delivered the common sermon (Am-bayan) on the initial stage.
The first phase will end with the Akheri Monajat on Sunday (January 10).
Before the Akheri Munajat, the leading elders of Tablig Jamaat will deliver sermons over patience, faith and deeds.
Devotees from 32 districts of the country are attending in the two phases of Ijtema.
Muslims from 17 districts on the first phase from January 8 to 10 and 16 districts including Dhaka will partake in the Ijtema from January 15 to 17.
