DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Sunday to mark the historic Homecoming Day of the great leader.
The premier placed floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi road No. 32 at 7:00am.
Firstly as the Prime Minister and later, flanked by senior party leaders, Sheikh Hasina, also the President of Awami League, placed another wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
After paying tributes, she stood in solemn silence there for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memories of Bangabandhu.
After paying tributes, Hasina entered Bangabandhu Bhaban and stayed here awhile.
Leaders and activists of AL’s associated organization also paid homage to Bangabandhu.
Sunday is the 45th Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu.
On January 10, 1972, Bangabandhu returned to Bangladesh via London and New Delhi from his captivity in Pakistan. He also took oath of office as the country's premier on that day.
