ASHULIA: A storehouse of garment wastage was gutted in a devastating fire in Ashulia’s  Jamgara area early Tuesday, leaving at least five people, including three fire fighters injured.

Officer- in-charge of Ashulia police station Sirajul Islam said, “The fire might have originated from an electric short circuit at around 4am and soon engulfed the entire storehouse.”

On information, five firefighting units from DEPZ and Dhamrai rushed in and doused the fire after four hours of hectic efforts, said Akhtaruzzaman, senior station officer of DEPZ Fire Station.

“Situation could be more serious if the petrol pump adjacent to the storehouse caught fire”, he added.

The extent of damage was estimated at about Tk 80 lakh, said General Manager of Prantik Enterprise Debashish Mutsuddi.
