BARISHAL: At least 20 students injured as lightening struck at a girls’ school in Agailjhara upazila of the district on Tuesday.

The incident took place at Shreemoti Matri Mangal Girls’ High School in the noon.

Critically injured class-VII student Priyanka Sarkar and class-VI student Jui Halder were rushed to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital and others rushed to Upazila Health Complex.

Another eight students took first aid.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Head Master of the school Nirmolendu Baroi said, “Lightning struck the school area amid torrential rain at noon, leaving 20 students injured.”
