Cops-workers clash injures 20 in Gazipur

GAZIPUR: At least 20 people were injured in a clash between police and readymade garment workers in Hotapara Monipur area of Bhaoalgor union of the district on Wednesday.

Witnesses said workers of Kesopia Sweater Fashion Limited came out with protest demanding salary and allowances hike around 10:30am.

At one stage, workers took position on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway while industrial police started to charge baton to disperse them from highway.

On the other hand, seeing unrest Jahintex and Givency Fashion limited declared factory shut down.

Later, all workers jointly started to show protest and locked into clash with police, leaving 20 workers injured.
 
Earlier on Tuesday, workers went on protest in the same demand and 10 workers received bullets hit.

Gazipur Industrial Deputy Police Super Moshrraf Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
