SUNAMGANJ: A young lady was chopped to death and her sister injured by miscreants in Aktapara village of Shimulbak union in Southern part of the district early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Jakia Begum, 22, daughter of Taiab Ali.

Shimulbak Union Parisad Chairman Abdullah Mia told banglanews, “Entering the house, miscreants started to chop the victim Jakia and her sister Sarupa at around 2:30am, leaving them critically injured.”

Later, locals rushed them to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctor declared Jakia dead.

Confirming the matter, South Sunamganj police station Officer-in-Charge Al-Amin told banglanews that the body was sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
