MUNSHIGANJ: Two fishermen were killed as lightning struck them in Meghna River adjacent to Charjhapta village under Sadar Upazila of the district on Wednesday noon.

The deceased were identified as Mamun, 18, son of Mizan Bapari and Ziaur Rahman, 35, son of Hanif Sardar.

Local sources said lightning struck Mamun and Ziaur at around 12:00pm while they were catching fish in Meghna River amid drizzling, leaving them critically injured.

Later, they were sent to Munshiganj General Hospital where duty doctor declared them dead.
