SCBA demands judicial probe

DHAKA: Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) demanded investigation into the leak of verdict of BNP lawmaker Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury.

General Secretary of SCBA Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokan came up with the demand in a general meeting at the association office on Wednesday.

BNP and Jamaat minded lawyers were present at the meeting.

Barrister Khokan, also BNP lawmaker, said, “The government must have to investigate into the leak incident under judicial probe led by a former chief justice.”

Earlier registrar office of the International Crimes Tribunal admitted that draft of the verdict of Salahuddin Quader was leaked partly.

Tribunal Registrar M Nasir Uddin said in a press briefing, “A part of the draft of the verdict was leaked during preparing and we think a vested quarter was involved with it.”

On Tuesday, International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 awarded death penalty to BNP lawmaker Salauddin Quader Chowdhury for his involvement in crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971.
