2 ICT staffs among others sued

DHAKA: Detective Branch (DB) Police filed a case against few people mentioning three names with Shahbagh Thana under Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Act over leak of the verdict draft of BNP leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury.

They are- cleaner of International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Nayan, office assistant Faruk and Mehedi Hasan, assistant of Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury’s lawyer Barrister Fakhrul Islam. DB arrested Nayan.

DB joint commissioner Monirul Islam confirmed the matter to journalists Friday.

Earlier in the day, DB raided the office of lawyer of convicted war criminal Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury’s and seized documents, printers and computers.

A DB team led by detective officers conducted the drive in Lawyer Barrister Fakhrul Islam’s office in capital’s Kakrail area around 2.00pm.

Deputy Commissioner Krisna Pado Roy of Detective Branch of police Dhaka Metropolitan (South) said that police raided the office as per a ‘General-Diary’ filed with Shahbagh Thana by the Registrar of International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).

Police launched an investigation into the leak of war crimes verdict against Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury.

Earlier on Tuesday, International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 awarded death penalty to BNP lawmaker Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury for his involvement in crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971.
