DHAKA UNIVERSITY: The authority of Labaid Hospital denied giving compensation to family members of victim Masum, a 4th-year student of Political Science department in Dhaka University, has pushed him towards Clear Cell Sarcoma Cancer.
The Friday night’s meeting between agitated fellow students-Masum’s family members and Labaid authority was ended without any negotiation, meeting sources said.
Aiming to reach a negotiation, the both groups are set to sit again on Saturday with the presence of Dhaka University vice-chancellor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique.
Victim’s family members and fellow students declared to stage agitation programme again at campus on Saturday to realize their demand.
Sources said Lab aid authority denied taking the responsibility of wrong treatment rather they blamed the patient. But victim’s family claimed that due to the doctor’s wrong treatment pushed victim Masum to near the death.
Labaid managing director Dr Shamim, managing committee director and Cardiac Anestheology department senior consultant Dr Mahabubul Islam and accused doctor professor Amzad Hossain on behalf of Lab aid hospital on the contrary victim’s family members and political science department professor Dr Nurul Amin and teachers and students were present on behalf of victim Masum.
Member of the parliament of Dhaka-7 seat Dr Mostafa Jalal Mahiuddin was the middle man in the meeting.
Managing committee director Dr Mahbubul Islam, also Cardiac Ansthiology Department senior consultant, told banglanews, “The meeting ended but we can’t say the result on the matter. Another meeting is set to hold with the presence of vice-chancellor and the result will be come out.”
Meanwhile, a tension was prevailing among the students as Labaid denied their demand.
A special source confirmed to banglanews that an ultimatum will be come out from Saturday’s protest program to meet the demand.
Victim’s family members alleged that he underwent a tumor operation from the hospital under Dr Amjad Hossain in 2012, when the doctor failed to identify the cancer.
