Maldives' FM Abdulla Shahid arrives in Dhaka

Foreign Minister of the Maldives Abdulla Shahid arrived in Dhaka on Monday night on a four-day official visit to Bangladesh.

He arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:15 pm. He will stay here until 11 February, said a press release.

The minister came here at the invitation of his Bangladesh counterpart AK Abdul Momen.

Abdulla Shahid is expected to pay courtesy calls on President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The two foreign ministers will hold a bilateral meeting today (Feb 9) to discuss issues of mutual interests covering the entire gamut of bilateral relations.

They will also witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy and the Foreign Service Institute of the Maldives.       

Apart from various issues related to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, issues of Bangladeshi expatriate workers in the Maldives will be discussed during the visit of Abdulla Shahid.

Besides, the issue of a possible visit of Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to Dhaka in March will be discussed.
