Ekushey Padak conferred short-story writer and novelist Hasan Azizul Huq was laid to rest on Tuesday (Nov 16) in the central library premises of Rajshahi University (RU) after Juhr prayers.
Earlier in the day, people paid last tribute to the Independent award winning writer Hasan Azizul Huq when his body was kept at the Shaheed Minar on the university campus.
His namaz-e-janaza was held at Central Mosque of Rajshahi city after Zuhr prayers. Later, he was buried at RU central library premises.
Hasan Azizul Huq, a former philosophy professor at Rajshahi University, died at his residence in Rajshahi last night.

He was the most revered and celebrated living fiction writer both in Bangladesh and West Bengal.
He wrote several novels and short story collections. His fiction, among other things, mainly deals with the struggle of the most marginal social groups including refugees, farmers and women.
Hasan Azizul Huq was born on February 2, 1939 at Burdwan in India. He is also a short-story writer and novelist. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1999 and Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1970.
