DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday sent a former Major to jail for five-day for contempt of court on Thursday.

Metropolitan Joint Session Judge of Dhaka-1 Nur Nahar Sheuli passed the order against former Major Mahbubul Haque, the plaintiff of a cheque fraudulent case.

Sources said that the court warned the plaintiff Mahbubul Haque for speaking loudly while giving his deposition but he repeatedly violated the warning.

At one stage, he insulted the court saying, “This is just a magistrate court whereas I was a first class commissioned officer which is four grades higher than the magistrate.”

Magistrate, in his order, said that lawyers, prosecutors and officials of the court watched Mahbubul’s contempt and sent to jail for 5-day.
