BAGHERHAT: At least 23 people, including women and children, were injured, in infighting between two groups of ruling Awami League in Charchinguria area of Chitalmari upazila of the district on Sunday.

Local sources said the supporters of Kalatola Union Parishad Member Badshah and Rustam Ali of the upazila locked into centering a long-standing clash on Sunday morning with local weapons, leaving 23 persons injured.

The injured were rushed to Chitalmari Health Complex and Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Chitalmari Thana Moniruzzaman Molla told banglanews that additional police forces were been deployed in the area to thwart further untoward situation.

Six people were held for their alleged involvement in the incident, he added.
