DHAKA: Opposition BNP acting Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday termed the verdict which awarded life-term imprisonment to BNP leader Nasir Uddin Ahmed Pintu for his involvement with the BDR carnage as politically motivated.
The spokesperson for the party made assertion at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan office in the 2nd day of 18-party called 60-hour hartal across the country in the afternoon.
Fakhrul said, “The government has intentionally implicated Pintu’s name in the case and the BNP strongly condemn the verdict pronounced against him.”
Earlier in the day, BNP former lawmaker Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu and Awami leader Torab Ali were awarded life-term jail for their involvement in much-talked-about BDR carnage case.
The BNP leader also asked the leaders and activists of the 18-party alliance to work for communal harmony throughout the country.
