DHAKA: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami cannot take part in next parliament elections as the High Court declared Jamaat’s registration illegal.
Election Commissioner M Shahnewaz said the matter has already disclosed on the website of the election commission.
The election commissioner came up with the assertion while talking to reporters at EC secretariat in the city.
He said the High Court declared the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami illegal as political party on August 1. On Wednesday, the commission received the copy of the full verdict.
The election commissioner said, “Jamaat does not have any scope to participate in the next general elections as it is an unregistered political party.”
