Top 7 BNP leaders’ houses raided

DHAKA: Police raided residences of seven top BNP leaders including party vice-chairman Sadek Hossain Khoka, standing committee members Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, BNP organizing secretary Muzibur Rahman Sarwar, opposition Chief whip Joynal Abedin Faruk and BNP Chairperson’s adviser Abdul Mannan on Friday night.

A police team raided the Shahjahanpur residence of Mirza Abbas and Gayeshwar Chandra’s Dhanmondi residence at around 09:45pm.

Meanwhile, police also raided Jaynal Abedin Faruk’s Baridhara residence and BNP chairperson’s adviser Abdul Mannan’s Dhanmondi residence.

Besides, law enforcers conducted raid in residences of Muzibur Rahman Sarwar and Barrister Jamir Uddin in city’s Dhanmandi area at around 12:00am.

BNP chairperson’s party office confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On the other hand, Detective Branch (DB) police arrested BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahamed, MK Anwar, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia, BNP chairperson’s advisor Abdul Awoal Pintu and personal assistant Shimul Biswas.

Earlier on Friday evening, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir declared 72-hour nonstop hartal.
