DHAKA: In the latest development, opposition BNP-led 18-party alliance announced to enforce an 84-hour nonstop hartal (shutdown) across the country from Sunday morning to press home their demand of non-partisan polls-time government.
BNP Join secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed made the announcement of hartal extension in a press conference at BNP`s Nayapaltan central office on Saturday morning.
On Friday, Acting Secretary General of BNP Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a press conference at Chairperson’s Gulshan office in the capital declared 72-hour hartal from Sunday morning.
Rizvi said, “The government arrested opposition leaders to stop anti-government movement as the last alarm bell of them has been ranged.
He also alleged that the incumbent government is not sincere at all about dialogue what they are saying in public meetings. They are now going forward to hold a one-sided election.
Besides, Rizvi sought security for lives of himself and party leaders-activists to human rights activists, journalists and lawyers.
