DHAKA: The hartal, separately called by district BNP and Swechhasebok Dal to press home different demands, observed in Pabna and Satkhira districts on Saturday amid stray incidents of violence.

Pabna district BNP observed a dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district protesting the remand of top five BNP leaders while Satkhira Swechhasebok Dal enforced a half-day hartal protesting the arrest of it’s central general secretary Sharafat Ali Sapu and Organising secretary Shafiul Bari Babu.

Our Pabna correspondent reported: Supporting hartal, Chhatra Dal activists blocked and set fire in various roads including Govt Edward College gate area.

All kinds of vehicles movement remained closed from Morning.

Pabna Police Super Miraj Uddin Ahmed said additional law enforcers were deployed in important points of the town.

Earlier, on November 9, district BNP observed dawn-to-dusk hartal protesting the held of BNP Chairperson’s Special Assistant Advocate Shimul Biswas.

Our Satkhira Correspondent reported: In support of hartal, Swechhasebok Dal activists brought out a procession and put barricade on road at circuit house intersection of the district town.

Pickets also blasted three cocktails to create panic in the area and hurled brick bats to an Easy bike.

No internal and long-route vehicle left the districts from morning but vehicles coming from Dhaka entered the town.

Additional law enforcers were deployed in key points of the town, police sources said.
