DHAKA: Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad Monday urged opposition BNP to join the general election for the sake of the country and the democracy.

The former President also announced that his party quitted the Awami League-led grand alliance and would join the polls-time cabinet.

 “We are no more with the grand alliance and keenly waiting for election. We also urge the BNP to join the general election,” Ershad said at a crowded press conference in the party office at city’s Banani.

Terming the polls as the ultimate solution of ongoing political gridlock, he urged the BNP to come to the roundtable to find out solution for holding polls with all parties.
