PATUAKHALI: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the country’s third seaport, Payra Seaport, in the district on Tuesday afternoon.

The premier inaugurated the much-awaited seaport around 1.00pm in Itbaria area at Tiakhali union under Kolapara upazila.

The prime minister also addressed a public rally near the Payra Bandar ground organized by upazila Awami League.

The Awami League president said the people of the country’s southern region had been neglected in the past.

She added: “But, whenever there is Awami League in power, the fate of people of this area is changed as per we emphasized the development works and don’t let down the promises.”

Mentioning that her party believes in balanced development, she listed various development activities undertaken by the present government in different fields and sought to vote for Awami League for prevailing the development activities.

Before addressing the rally, Hasina inaugurated a number of development projects as well as laid the foundation stone of some projects.
