DHAKA: Opposition BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday said the 18-prty alliance asked President to solve the existing political crisis through dialogue.
The spokesperson for the party came up with the disclosure while talking to journalists after a meeting with President M Abdul Hamid in the evening.
Fakhrul also told the journalists that the President assured them to solve the problem as per his jurisdiction according to the constitution.
Earlier in the day, the 18-party alliance delegation reached at Bangabhaban to meet President M Abdul Hamid for requesting him to take steps for formation of non-party government to oversee the next polls.
The 20-member delegation led by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia reached at the residence of the President around 6:15pm.
The members of the delegation include BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members RA Gani, Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar, Dr Moyeen Khan, Mirza Abbas ASM Hannan Shah, Nazrul Islam Khan, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, and Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury.
The other party members include M Shamsul Islam and Hamidur Rahman Azad of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmed of LDP, Andalib Rahman Partha of Jatiya Party, Islami Oikya Jote Chairman Abdul Latif Nezami, JAGPA president Shafiul Alam Pradhan and Ibrahim of Kalyan Party.
On Monday afternoon, Khaleda Zia sought the appointment of the President.
