BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's family applied to the government seeking further extension of her jail sentence suspension.

The Law Ministry on Thursday received the petition sent by the Homer Ministry in this regard.

Law Minister Anisul Huq said: "We came to know that his brother applied for her conditional release to the home ministry. It has come to the law ministry. But I haven't got it yet. I will let you know when I see the file."

According to him, his ministry will send it back to the Home Ministry with their recommendations.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s younger brother Shamim Eskandar submitted a fresh application recently to the Home Ministry seeking extension of her release period.

In the application, he asked to relax the conditions of her release and allow taking her abroad for treatment.

The government extended Khaleda’s conditional release several times in the two corruption cases. BNP chief khaleda Zia has been staying at her Gulshan residence since her release.
