Former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is set to leave Dhaka for London in the first half of January for advanced medical treatment.
Prof AZM Zahid Hossain, personal physician of Khaleda Zia confirmed the matter on Wednesday (Dec 25).
He said that preparations are underway based on the advice of the medical board, though the exact date has not yet been finalized.
Khaleda Zia will travel on a medically equipped flight accompanied by a team of doctors, family members, and personal aides.
According to BNP sources, she will stay with her son Tarique Rahman in London before heading to the United States for specialized treatment for her liver complications.
The 79-year-old leader suffers from liver cirrhosis, as well as other health issues, including heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, and complications related to her teeth and eyes.
