BNP Vice Chairman and former deputy education minister Abdus Salam Pintu has been released from jail after 17 years.
Pintu, who was sentenced to death in the August 21 grenade attack case, walked out of Kashimpur Central Jail Part-2 at 11:04 am today (December 24).
His release came after the High Court's acquittal order was received, and the necessary verification and legal formalities were completed.
Family members were present at the jail gate to receive and welcome him.
On December 1, the High Court overturned the 2018 verdict of a special court that had sentenced Pintu to death, acquitting all convicted individuals in the case.
