RAJSHAHI: District BNP observed half-day hartal in the metropolitan and upazilas of the district on Wednesday amid stray incidents of violence.

Witnesses said that hartal and blockade supporters brought out a procession at around 08:30am and create blockade on roads in Kadirganj area.

Later, police rushed to the spot to disperse them which triggered a fierce clash.

Meanwhile, police fired tear shell, rubber bullets and sound grenades to bring the situation under control, leaving 24 people injured.

Besides, the vehicle movement remained normal during hartal in the district and small shops were opened.
